Effects of Jet Quenching on High pT Hadron Spectra in High-energy Nuclear Collisions

چکیده
Assuming an effective energy loss dE/dx for the high ET partons which are produced via hard processes of parton scattering and subsequently propagate through a dense medium, effective jet fragmentation functions are constructed in which leading hadrons will be suppressed. Using such effective fragmentation functions, high pT hadron spectra and particle suppression factors relative to pp collisions are then calculated in central high-energy nuclear collisions. The suppression factors are very sensitive to the value of the effective energy loss. Systematic nuclear and flavor dependence of the hadron spectra are also studied.

A NLO analysis on fragility of dihadron tomography in high energy AA collisions
The dihadron spectra in high energy AA collisions are studied within the NLO pQCD parton model with jet quenching taken into account. The high pT dihadron spectra are found to be contributed not only by jet pairs close and tangential to the surface of the dense matter but also by punching-through jets survived at the center while the single hadron high pT spectra are only dominated by surface e...
متن کاملSystematic Study of High pT Hadron Spectra in pp, pA and AA Collisions from SPS to RHIC Energies
High-pT particle spectra in p+p (p+̄p), p+A and A+B collisions are calculated within a lowest-order (LO) perturbative QCD (pQCD) parton model, including intrinsic transverse momentum, its broadening due to initial multiple parton scattering and jet quenching due to parton energy loss inside a dense medium. The intrinsic kT and its broadening in p+A and A+B collisions due to initial multiple part...
متن کاملct 2 00 4 High p T hadron spectra at RHIC : an overview
Abstract. Recent results on high transverse momentum (pT ) hadron production in p+p, d+Au and Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) are reviewed. Comparison of the nuclear modification factors, RdAu(pT ) and RAA(pT ), demonstrates that the large suppression in central Au+Au collisions is due to strong final-state effects. Theoretical models which incorporate jet quenchi...
متن کاملHigh pT Phenomena at RHIC
First data from RHIC reveals a suppression of hadron production at high pT in central Au-Au collisions relative to the expectation from nucleonnucleon collisions. Known nuclear effects are excluded as origin. The apparent suppression of high pT hadrons thus indicates quenching of jet production. The origin of this jet quenching is uncertain and whether it is related to parton energy loss throug...
متن کاملLow - pT collective flow induces high - pT jet quenching
Data on low-pT hadronic spectra are widely regarded as evidence of a hydrodynamic expansion in nucleusnucleus collisions. In this interpretation, different hadron species emerge from a common medium that has built up a strong collective velocity field. Here we show that the existence of a collective flow field implies characteristic modifications of high-pT parton fragmentation. We generalize t...
